Edmund Optics® (EO), the premier provider of optical components, announced today that it was awarded a Silver Level Award for itsTECHSPEC® Telecentric Variable Magnification Lenses and a Bronze Level Award for its Dynamic Focus VZM Lens. Both lens families were recognized among the best in the industry by the judges of the Vision Systems Design 2015 Innovators Awards program. The judging panel consisted of esteemed experts from system integrator and end-user companies.
“We are continually working to find new and creative imaging solutions by designing cutting-edge optical products,” said Gregory Hollows, Director of the Imaging Business Unit at Edmund Optics. “To be recognized in the industry for our innovation is an honor, and we truly appreciate receiving these awards from Vision Systems Design.
Edmund Optics’ TECHSPEC® Telecentric Variable Magnification Lenses have the ability to achieve variability in fields of view in gauging applications which cannot be obtained with standard fixed focal length, standard zoom, or standard telecentric lenses. Non-variable versions at desired magnifications reduce size and cost allowing for flexibility during application development.
Their Dynamic Focus VZM lens is the first of its kind to fully integrate a liquid lens in its assembly. The addition of the liquid lens into the optical train allows the lens to quickly change focus over a large range of distances, on the order of milliseconds. This lens is ideal for microscopy applications where users can take advantage of its large mechanical zoom range (over 6X) to look at objects such as cells with variable depth.
“On behalf of the Vision Systems Design Innovator Awards, I would like to congratulate Edmund Optics on their Silver and Bronze awards,” said Vision Systems Design Group Publisher Alan Bergstein. “This competitive, unbiased program celebrates the most innovative products and services in the vision and image processing industry. The team at Edmund Optics should be very proud.”
The Vision Systems Design 2015 Innovators Awards program reviews and recognizes the most innovative products and services in the vision and image processing industry. High-scoring companies were announced at AUTOMATE 2015 held in Chicago, Illinois. Criteria used in the Innovators Awards ranking included: originality, innovation; impact on designers, systems integrators and end-users; fulfilling a need in the market that hasn’t been address, leveraging a novel technology, and increasing productivity.
